Community Safety Unit is Launched |
Hertfordshire Probation staff are to play a key part in the new County Community Safety Unit, set up to improve service and support to vulnerable people.
The unit, first of its kind in the country, is based at Farnham House, Stevenage, and is made up of more than 100 people, including police, county council staff, as well as probation officers providing expertise in offender management.
Funded by the police and the county council, the new unit is responsible for delivering on four areas:
- vulnerable people - includes domestic violence, safeguarding adults and child protection
- offender management
- safer communities - anti-social behaviour and alcohol misuse
- the county drug strategy
