Probation staff celebrate trust status |
Hertfordshire Probation staff are celebrating ministerial approval for them to become Hertfordshire Probation Trust from April next year.
It means the organisation can take part in new arrangements laid down by the Offender Management Act 2007.
The Act introduces a new commissioning environment whereby community offender management services will be delivered under contract to the Regional Director of Offender Management.
Chief Officer Tessa Webb said she was overjoyed with the result: "It means we have been recognised for our high standards of performance, effective use of resources and, in particular, our contribution to Hertfordshire's strong, multi-agency partnerships, which serve to keep Hertfordshire one of the safest counties in England."
Tessa added: "Gaining Trust status has been hugely demanding in terms of time and commitment, but it also gave us an opportunity to show off our continuous improvement over the last few years and to showcase our skilled and dedicated staff who are working in partnership with others to protect the public and reduce crime.
"We intend now to use the momentum created by this success to see out opportunities for innovation and to work ever more closely with local communities."
